It is said that it's not over until it's over and that's also the case regarding a game of chess. In a classical format game, unless both the players sign on their scoresheet after the game is over, the result is not counted. It was a tough game for Hriday as he fought with all his might against the experience Deepan under extreme time pressure. Once he resigned, he asked to be excused and came back to sign on the scoresheets. This documentary celebrates not just India's performance but also the very fact that such a massive event took place on Indian soil. So many wonderful things happened in those 12 days and this documentary of 50 minutes tries to encapsulate that. A huge congratulations to the organizers (FIDE, AICF and TN Government), all the players and the people who made this a huge success. Every Saturday at the ChessBase India Chess Club, IM Sagar Shah plays against a lot of players for a 2-3 hours at a stretch. We had completed 8 Saturdays and Sagar had not lost a single game. But the fateful day arrived on the 9th session on 14th of May 2022, when 1422 rated Vishal Dharia managed to get the better of Sagar. Check out this game where Sagar himself commentates on his game as a third person. It's fun, enjoyable and you will also be able to learn a few things from the comments! Sagar Shah is a positional chess player. Amruta Mokal is an aggressive player. This clash of styles was amply seen in their over the board clash at the 9th session of the ChessBase India Chess Club at the Phoenix Marketcity, Kurla. The game is filled with good positional decisions at the start by Sagar, creative attacking ideas by Amruta and then blunders by both sides as they start getting low on time. At some point, Sagar also makes an illegal move. Check out the video to find out who won the game in the end.
